Dante’s Inferno: How Being Whole Makes a Person Feel Pleasure and Pain

October 1, 2021 There was an interesting part in Canto Six of Dante’s Inferno which talked about how being whole transforms the way a person experiences emotions. Dante writes, “He: “Turn to your philosophy again , // which shows that when a thing at last is whole // it feels more pleasure—so it feels more pain”” (Canto 6, Ln. 105-7). This passage stuck out to me because it spoke to the idea that as a person gets closer to wholeness, that person has the capacity to feel things deeper. I always thought that as a person became more whole, they would feel pleasure and love better, but it never struck me that the same would be true of the other e motions, specifically pain. I think it makes sense, though, that as a person is able to understand and process what they are feeling, they will have the capacity to feel things stronger. Coffee and Summer

"The noblest art is that of making people happy." - P. T. Barnum A lot has been going on recently. School is almost over, and all of my stressful/exciting events have already happened. It was a hurricane last week, and this week it is only a misty breeze(well, except that it's like a thousand degrees outside). I joined a choir called Encore, and that has been great. We sang songs from The Greatest Showman, which I LOVE, Dear Evan Hansen, and a medley of Irving Berlin's songs as well. It was really neat to be a part of show choir because there was just so many talented people that we had an amazing time just singing and dancing. I will never forget it! School is all done except for Chemistry, which I am still finishing up, and I look forward to a full summer of excitement. A Week, or Three Months? (Both, of course)

Now that the kids have fully adjusted to the time change, they can finally go to bed later than 7 pm without 100,972,300 breakdowns in the space of thirty minutes. It may not have been quite that much, but you never can tell... I have been given permission by my mother to post particulars, such as names, on this blog, and will now be referring to everybody by their actual identities, and shall enjoy doing so. This morning, at lunch, Ivan, the only boy, made a little mistake that accounted for a hilarious picture. I had a hard time keeping a straight face, for obviously, it was a waste, and should not be found entertaining, but it was pretty great. There, that matter being clarified, I shall continue in this monologue. I just want to shout out to my mom, who has been doing an incredible job these past few weeks. (...
